It started with Prosecco….

When one of our first conversations was deciding whether to get a glass of Prosecco each or share a bottle (bottle obviously!) we immediately knew we were onto a strong foundation for a friendship.  Needless to say our story grew from there, very much based around Prosecco.

We drank our way through the next few years, frequenting pubs, bars and beer gardens with our then boyfriends (now husbands) and friends, with ‘fun-day Sunday’ being our favourite occasion.

By chance, we fell pregnant within months of each other, so have been lucky enough to share the highs, lows, worries and joys of pregnancy and birth whilst our friendship has grown from strength to strength.

When our bundles of joy arrived, a girl for Mrs O first then two months later a boy for Mrs L, we had the privilege of having the same maternity leave to meet up and furthermore share the highs, lows, worries and joys of motherhood together.

As all new mums will understand, the Prosecco had to change to coffee (‘drunk mothers club’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it, or command much respect!) so naturally cake came with it – our get togethers then aptly became named ‘cake club’

We’ve had some gems of conversations whilst settling a screaming baby, changing a nappy, desperately trying to feed our child or generally stop them creating havoc whereever we are.  We’ve spoken honestly, from the heart and put the world to rights, alongside a good old gossip about anything from celebrities to politics.  We hatched a crazy plan to create a blog to bring other people into our very candid cake club, and who would’ve believed it, here we are.

We hope you enjoy our mindless ramblings and we very much look forward to hearing your thoughts and welcoming you to our ‘Candid Cake Club’
